Some observations;

The Good -
I love the new smilies! They're reall cool. The ads on the left are neat too. The fade in the top window is especially neat. Would be cool to follow suit with the two windows below it.

The Bad -
The color choices, to me, make it kind of hard to read. Maybe it's the chosen font? Especially when you're looking at the Forums menu. The Grey scale + white fonts make it look busy and uncomplimentary. At 1920 x 1200 though all those problems just melt away :-)

The Ugly -
The top graphic looks like it's made for center justification and the rest of the site looks like it's left to right. Maybe if the middle P42 thingee was on the left side and the two windows were to the right of it or something, it might mesh a little better.

Overall it's a nice update over the old site I think.

The good. Cant fade the other little windows without forcing particular sizes because the fade image is a static graphic, where the others are dynamic tables. I'll be changing the notification smilies as well, because I think they're just too big.

The bad. There will be more skins, just like before. Possibly the "White P42" skin will be more your style? (it's available now, but not complete, you are welcome to check it out)

The ugly. The middle portion is meant to be that way, like the old site, on the forums the right menu is gone, but on the main site the right menu is there. So that won't change. Also, it takes a very long time to get our graphics guy to do anything, so get used to this look.

Like p0wd3r said, it would take a whole reconstruction of the design, and we took off the right menu because it would crunch all of the text in the middle for those that are on a lower resolution.

This is our happy median for 2008. Who knows what might come in the next years.

We've got a nice new, powerful, and sexy backend. (you can't see it because it's the backend).

We are focusing on adding functionality this year like tournaments, and other stuff that our gamers are suggesting.

Brad, did you write the backend from scratch?

If I wrote it from scratch with the time I have, it'd be a couple of years before I got around to finishing it. It took the team of guys who built it 6 years to get it this far (from 2002).

I wrote some plug-in’s for it to make it "P42" Unique.

It works really well and seems pretty fast. I so miss the "See posts since last visit" link though. I used that every time I visited this site.

Hey Painless, As a matter of fact, there is, it's on the left menu called "View New Posts". The wording is a little diffrent.
