It's been a while, but the GEEX website is up! The final URL will be GEEXShow.com (
http://www.geexshow.com), expect a nice helping of information in the coming months. Our event countdown clock (patent pending) is set for the first day of the event, July 17, 2008. The LAN party we're planning will be at least as large as our yearly events, plus the addition of the XBox 360 with it's fair share of tournaments. Confirmed vendors, to name a few, will be Microsoft, Verizon, US Army (the ENTIRE Army! j/k), KSL, and many others. If you would like to see a particular company there, let us know and we'll pass the information on to the marketing department. We will be working close with the organizers and assisting with any portion of the event that they need with our primary focus on the LAN party and the Tournaments. This is going to be a summer to remember for Salt Lake City, we're finally getting a trade show for the geek in all of us!

I think that's the second post in these new forums' short history where someone has mistakenly made the

emoticon when attempting to write a colon followed immediately by an S.
yeah, it's cuz the forums automagically parse :S as a smile, but there's this cool feature where you can disable smilies in your reply now!
hmm a COD4 PC tourney (at least thats what is listed on the sponsorship page).
If so count me in! as long as its CAL rules and not stupid Hardcore.
I was going to do CSS but I cant find a decent team

.
COD4 is going to be on Xbox 360.. but if there is enough interest in a PC tournament as well...
Guys, I have no pull with GEEX. I like what they're doin. Between them and P42, they can put something AMAZING together. But the tickets for non-players has to go. Charge the teams more, or whatever. But you cannot ask the spectators or people who "might be interested" and want to support gamers are expected to pay money (15$ a day or more) to see something they more-than-likely dont care about. GEEX will need the fan support, just as P42 has done, and still does. We (UTAH) need the publicity! If GEEX wants to do this right, and put all of this time, money, and expectations in to it - something should change
The Tournament / LAN Party will be in a seperate part of the building than the Expo itself, so I don't think you are expected to purchase an event ticket if you just want to watch the tournament or LAN Party, there will be some identifying factor on whether you have purchased a Tournament Entry or LAN Entry pass so if you don't have one of those all you would be able to do is spectate.
That's my understanding as well.. p0wd3r, confirm/deny?
Correct. The LAN party is just another exhibit at the event. Think of this as E3 for those who don't want to spend a few hundred $$ on tickets, and with a bonus LAN party in the mix.

Ah. Ok, thanks for clearing that up guys!
Any new and interesting info regarding the CS: S tourney for us?

The schedule has been posted on their site, the preliminaries will begin on the 18th, and the the finals will be on the 19th. They're talking to X96 about a concert in one of the halls on Friday as well. We've also worked it out so the concert pass will be included in your registration fee.

Should be a pretty sweet event.
